Folkwear

Creating something wearable and lasting from fabric has always held a certain magic for me. I learned how to sew when I was a little girl, sitting underneath my mother’s quilt stand. I’ve long had a fascination with historical dress and love wearing corsets and stays in particular. Lacing up stays is a sensory experience for me, helping me to feel safe and held in my own body. They’ve played an integral part in helping me to reclaim my own capacity to wield feminine power in a way that also conjures a little old-world magic. I’ve come to see them as a form of medicine in my own life and in the lives of those who wear them.
